What is the role of auDA?
auDA performs the following functions:
* develop and implement domain name policy
* license 2LD registry operators
* accredit and license registrars
* implement consumer safeguards
* facilitate .au Dispute Resolution Policy
* represent .au at ICANN and other international fora.

What are the .au Accredited Registrars?
The following organizations (listed in random order) are auDA accredited registrars. This means they are authorized by auDA to provide services to people who want to register a new domain name, renew their existing domain name, or make changes to their domain name record.
Specific services and fee schedules may vary from registrar to registrar.

What are .au Second Level Domains (2LDs)?

Within the .au domain, there are several second level domains (2LDs). Each serves a specific type of enterprise and the options are outlined below. When it comes to registering a domain name, you can choose the 2LD which best suits your purposes.
"Open" 2LDs
These 2LDs are known as "open" because they are open to the general public, subject to eligibility criteria.

For educational institutions registered at federal or state level. This domain is managed on behalf of the Australian education sector by the Australian Information and Communications Technology in Education Committee (AICTEC).

For federal, state and local government bodies. This domain is managed on behalf of the Australian government sector by the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO).
