That's because the Dutch spend huge amounts of money on diets and related stuff. In 2007 a lady named Sonja Bakker managed to sell 1.4 million books about her diet, and that's a lot for a population of 16 million people.
I think 'dieten.nl' is a very very nice name, but in this case the singular 'dieet.nl' would be a lot better.
BTW: IDN is not used for .nl domains.
