I have some .ae domains and I'm a international customer.

I never send a copy of ID Card or passport.

I registered in a local registrar. I select the domains and pay, that's all.

My name is in the whois.

When I register .ae (couple of years back), I went directly via NIC.ae. There you need to fill out the form and send ID card copy. Never tried via a registrar.

Is that local registrar cheaper, more expensive or the same price as going directly to the NIC?

Some other fun facts about .ae

While in Dubai it took me 2 trips to the Etisalat office, 2 phone calls to Etisalat and an email to get nameservers on a domain changed, time to do this about 2 months.

I went into the Etisalat on the 25th of March to renew a domain name, paid in cash and received an email TODAY telling me that it was renewed!
