I am very interested to hear anyone's thoughts on .ar domains?
There are a LOT of great .ar domains available - want to know if it is worth the price. |

If you had a local contact, the extension would be even better.

Yeah I believe you have to have an admin contact address in Argentina. Maybe someone who is sure of the information will post.

You need an adress in Argentina for register the .com.ar domains.
If you put a fake adress, they can cancel your domains. I don't think that there are still good .com.ar available. There are a lot of premiums domains at good price, if you want to ask the price of any in particular, i can phone the owner for you. If you know any good .com.ar available, tell me and i'll register it for you ![]()

The best about .ar domain names is that they are FREE!!!! A friend of mine own around 400 there but you must have an adress insinde country or a contact who will do this for you.
As it's free most generics are gone long ago... what you can register won't have traffic at all. But maybe you can buy premmium domains very cheap if you find some aftermarket. |

Now, if you register many domains, nic.ar doesn't give all of them. Most remains in "pending status" and are never given to the owner. An example of this tinelli.com.ar, in pending status since 2000-03-09 19:17:16!!!!!!!! I think that there are more than 500,000 .com.ar in pending status, a lot of generics too! If you don't register more than 40 a month, you won't have problems. I think that one or two a day is ok. Regards Matias |

Saludos

Yes, you are right. A lot of companies are buying their domains in Argentina. When a foreign company comes to latin america, they first buy or register their domains in: Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Chile. They focuses first in these countries, so you can see here the importance of the .com.ar market. Lots of companies have paid a good price for their domains, from 500 to 10,000 eur in order to recover them. As in Argentina there is no wipo, a trial takes a lot of time and they prefer paying than waiting for the trial to finish. Others prefer direct going to trial, but they are a few. On the other hand, we can see generics sold at a good price, like javier said, turismo.com.ar in 30,000 usd, sitios.com.ar in 10,000 usd, domain.com.ar in 7,000 usd, libros.com.ar 10,000 usd (with some others in a pack), etc. So, come to argentina and buy a domain ![]() ![]() hahah

Thanks for the info!
Where is the best place to buy and sell .ar domains? Is there any particularly popular domaining forum? Luckily I speak Spanish so could deal with a non-English site. |

There is a site with some domains .com.ar on sale, mercadonic.com. The most popular forum is demene.com, but there isn't a forum only for .com.ar. The best way to find a .com.ar at good price, is to contact direct to the owner and ask him for price. Probably, you'll have to phone to the owner because in nic.ar you can't see the mail in most cases. As the .com.ar are free, a lot of people has good .com.ar's and they don't know they real value, or they aren't interested in selling them at a big price. They've only registered them for hobby and don't know the domains market. If you search, you can really buy good things. Obiously, most generics today are in hands of domainers, but there are still ones that aren't. If you need something, I can help you. Regards Matias |

Yes, registration is free
Sí, el registro es totalmente gratis Pero que el registro sea gratis no significa que tengan poco valor!!!! But registration is free does not mean they have little value! Yo he registrado, por ejemplo, globalwarming.com.ar, y creo que tiene un valor importante para la venta. Los .com.ar son un negocio emergente, con mucho potencial. I have registered, for example, globalwarming.com.ar, and I think it is an important asset for sale. The. Com.ar are an emerging business with great potential. |

Hay domainers importantes en .com.ar. Hay foros con secciones .com.ar, pero ningún foro especifico
There are major domainers. Com.ar. There are forums sections. Com.ar, but no specific forum Por lo general los domainers se conocen entre si y se mantienen en contacto Usually domainers know each other and stay in touch |

As to .ar, same as .ua - most of the content is within com.ar and com.ua - some traffic is going now into .com without ccTLDs.
