Default WHOIS: Protecting the Privacy of Domain Name Holders

CIRA has implemented changes to the dot-ca WHOIS search tool, effective June 10, 2008.

CIRA conducted a series of consultations with various stakeholders to develop a policy that protects the privacy of individual consumers while continuing to allow access to information pertaining to corporations, organizations, and institutions. The resulting policy and procedures provide a balanced approach that respects individual Registrant privacy while allowing for timely mechanisms for legitimate information requests. CIRA anticipates conducting a public consultation within a year, to review these rules and procedures.
