Default Are .sg names worth holding on to?

Hi

I have a few premium insurance related .sg names (.sg, not .com.sg).

If they were .com or .co.uk, they would be very valuable, but I am not sure if .sg is gaining any popularity at all?

With local presence fees, they cost a fortune to renew. Does anyone with knowledge about the .sg aftermarket (if there is one...) think they are worth holding on to?

Thanks

Insurance related domain names are indeed very valuable .
You asked if they are worth holding on to?I'm sure than in a couple of years .sg will gain popularity and therefore, they will be valuble. However,it's a matter of time .

Thanks for the input.

Yes, I agree. Surely, they must become more valuable with time... But $100 per name per year is quite a lot. But I think I will renew.

100 $ is indeed a lot .Maybe you should develope a website on them ,and gain some money with the domains (the asia market is very good for advertising on websotes - high CPC for keywords)

Yes, that would definitely be the best thing to do, but I haven't found the time to do it yet.

If all of these domain names are believed to be premium domain names you can hold them. But hold don't mean hold - park them and earn something.

If you do believe that all that premium domain names are suitable in having a good page rank at websites. You can have it back, but just try it.

The names are parked, but they hardly get any visitors...

If I go to google.com.sg and do a search for the keywords, loads of local ads show up. So it does seem there is a market for these terms, even though I guess Chinese is more used than English in general in Singapore?

I think that problem is in the domain name itself and current demand for such domain name. If your domain name is good and attractive you will be able to have good deal from it whatever extension it has.

I feel the names are pretty good. But I think another "problem" is that .com.sg still seems to be much more widespread than .sg. I am sure that will change over time, but it might take a while.

it may take time for it to become more recognised but an instant advantage it already has is that .sg is shorter than .com.sg so it can be more appealing for businesses to brand their name with this extension

Yes, definitely. Just take India as an example, where .in is now beginning to be much more popular than the (older) .co.in extension.

The reason could be in the registration fee also.
So that's why IN are more popular.

Yeah, .sg fees are not exactly cheap - even without local contact fee...

So according to that I suppose there are no good domain names at all which are available for the registration

I think you can still find some nice names available for registration. But they need to be really good to justify registration fee, or you have to develop them.

I suppose such names do not have no potential as they are still free and available for the registration.
