I think this has a lot to do with the fact that these are often used for "typo" domains. i.e. someone was trying to go to www.somedomain.com and accidentally typed www.somedomain.cm. A malicious user could create a phishing site for a popular bank for example using a .cm domain in this way.

As I wrote in this forum before, there aren't 80,000 domains registered in the .CM zone, so no way they could have checked that many domains. Secondly most of the domains were only activated in September, and I doubt that McAfee baed their report for an entire year on September and October figures. Anyway, I believe McAfee just need to get some press in order to sell their product.
