Default Local Contact for .de domains

Hi,

Just a quick question, I have some .de names i would like to buy from Moniker ($8.40usd) b/c thats the cheapest I can find the domain. I was wondering if they provide a proxy service or if anyone knows of a site that does for a comparable price. Also, how closely is the administratove contact regulated, could I just use a random address ?

I would assume Moniker has to have an admin contact in Germany for you to register .DE domains if you don't have a German address.

Longhorn is right - your registrar need to have admin contact in Germany. DO NOT add there random contact, because DENIC will delete your domain name, when they find out it's fake.

For better pricing I would probably look at some German registrars.

We would not recommend to use a random German address. The chances you keep your domain in case there are any problems are much higher if you have a trusted proxy service. You should ask your registrar which local contact they're using. Ideally it should be a German lawyer or law firm.
