How about .fm? With last.fm being hit daily by 10 million users, one would think this is a good recognition and potential for .fm for multimedia sites (just like tv).

I can understand .TV, as it is widely know and used, but for .fm the only domain I really know is last.fm and I believe that most users, wouldn't be able to mention 10 active website with .fm extension

An average user would be hard pressed to name tv sites too. Here in the US, the only one that has recognition is tnt.tv, everything else is pretty much niche level sites, not much different from .fm. Jazz.fm, sky.fm, there are quite a few music content sites using fm. Then again, nothing comes close to last.fm, of course. By the way, check out estibot's valuation of last.fm (for traffic alone, of course) - 15,000,000. Not bad for an fm site, wouldn't you say.

with last.fm it is all about the users. Not many people if anyone at all would type in last.fm if it weren't developed. Anyway, what I am trying to say is, I don't see a real market / demand currently for .fm or .am, but I might be wrong.

Yes, you're right, it's about developed sites. What I am saying is that it is a brandable extension, no worse than tv, and is actively used by music sites. You wouldn't get any type in traffic, but the same holds for tv domains (which you don't have an objection to). I have a couple of major tv domains, and the traffic i get? Pitiful.
