Default A few facts about .ch...

.ch

Do I have to be Swiss to register .ch domain names?

No. You can register a .ch domain name without being Swiss and without living in Switzerland or having your business based in Switzerland.

Does .ch offer IDNs (Internationalized Domain Name)?

Yes. their are an extended range of characters that can be used for domain names under .ch and .li to include some characters with umlauts and other accents as well as certain other characters not contained in the basic ASCII set.

Hey Ray.
I see that some country code specific forums have more info then others. Just a recommendation as you begin to add facts to each:

Can you address the point about what the actual extension is. For example .ch is it simple a .ch or a .com.ch

Maybe this is a poor example but .es, .br, may be better as it gets confusing whether or not the .com is part of the country code or not.

Cheers.

Default Re: About the .ch Forum...

Some information on .ch:

1. Registration is opened to all business entities and individuals.

2. Admin and Technical contact can be an organisation or individual.

3. Name servers have to be pre-configured for the domain name for registration.

4. Renewal can only be initiated 90 days before the domain expiration date.

5. Ownership transfer is treated as a new registration. The new domain expiration date will be one year from the day the ownership transfer is effected.

6. Deletion rules :
- After the deletion of a domain name, the domain is subject to a transition period of 14 days during which registration of this domain name by a third party is not possible.
- Domain would be purged out for public registration on the 15th day.

Do you have any information about backordering .ch?

Or having at least a system that shows the expiration date of .ch domains.

Thank you,

M
