Anybody know what's the latest with .CO? It seems little has happened since the Ministry of Communications approved the new policy framework last year.

Seems like there is strong potential for very high-traffic type-ins for anyone that forgets to append the "m" when typing ".com"...

I know there are some that work with .COM.CO but since .CO has not launched yet, none that I am aware of.

currently they are tendering the .co registry. Until this process is finished, you can only register .com.co (also has many restrictions and takes time to register).

According to Wikipedia the Colombian supreme court dissalows them from offering .co. Where can I read about this tendering?

Have to check where I read this, but there was an article / information from the goverment about 6 month ago. Also I know that several registry providers went there with proposals.

Big difference between .co and .com.co - .com.co would certainly not get the same type-in traffic you're likely to get with .co - but maybe the Colombian government knows that!

for sure they know that .co works as a typos of .com, same as .cm and .om

The estimated timeframe is early 2010 when .co domains will be available for registration. Sorry I can't remember the link or the source - so don't quote me on this.

I wonder if Kevin Ham has already secured a deal with the registry of .co. Type in any high traffic website with the .co extension and the page will be parked. Is this the work of Kevin, someone who's copied Kevin's method, or the co registry itself cashing in?

You mean .co is wildcarded right now? I cannot see any parked pages when typing any .co domain.
