Question Drop cycle

Does anyone know how the drop cycle works with .dk domains? How long after the expiry date do I have to wait to be able to register a .dk domain?

The get deleted in batches based on time and alphabetical order. It's a little complicated to explain..

But with .dk's there's an more interesting option, as you can get on the waiting list for a domain name. You have to pay a (yearly) fee of approx. USD 10 to be on the waiting list, and the on successful registration of the domain name you have to pay the registration fee. The waiting lists works as first come first serve, and you can see if others are already on the waiting list for a specific domain name. You just have to look out for domains that are going to expire - they'll change status to 'inactive' - and then get on the waiting list. Though this doesn't work well for domains for typo's etc., as a trademark holder etc. will trumph your position on the waiting list.

Here's the URL for the waiting list: DK Hostmaster A/S: Waitinglist

Interesting! Thank you for a good answer. Is the waiting list fee yearly or one time payment only?

The waiting list fee is yearly, so my best advice is to just go for domains that are very likely to expire - e.g. if their status has changed to inactive.
