Default About .es ....

.es

Who is eligible to register a .ES domain name?

Individuals and incorporated or non-incorporated entities may apply for a .es second level domain name when they have interests in or ties with Spain.

The Assignment Authority will consider applicants who have interests in or ties with Spain when, among other circumstances, the ".es" domain name beneficiary is an individual or incorporated or non-incorporated entity established in Spain, whose services are aimed fully or partially at the Spanish market, or an individual or entity wishing to offer information, services, and/or products that are linked culturally, historically, or socially to Spain.

Would you need an Administrative Contact for a .es domain name?

Yes. You need a total of three. However, all three may, in fact, be the same person:

  • Administrative Contact Person: The individual designated by the beneficiary before the Assignment Authority as the representative in relation to the rights of use of the ".es" domain name, and who has been granted sufficient power of attorney to act as such.
  • Invoicing Contact Person: The individual designated by the beneficiary before the Assignment Authority as the contact regarding aspects related to the payment of the amounts corresponding to the ".es" domain name assignment and renewal fees.

  • Technical Contact Person: The individual designated by the beneficiary before the Assignment Authority as the contact regarding the technical aspects related to configuring and operating the ".es" domain name.

Welcome Pedro!

Do you mainly invest in .es? If so, what has your experience been like with them?

Thanks

Arrow Domains .es

I think is going to be better because the infrastructure is improving a lot in Spain and the generation that is now becoming is more aware of the importance of the .es domains.

You bet. I mainly invest in .es. I believe that people in spain are getting used to .es.

.es domains are definitelly more popular than .net in the internet here in Spain. I guess they might become like co.uk. if not they already are. We also can register the .com.es org.es and name.es

.com.es might be taking off some time soon like com.ar thatīs what I haver heard. But who knows.

In the mean time I mainly go for the .es

Great to be here many thanks to you

As for transfer purposes, the .es market is still very tricky for foreign investors, because you have to fill out the transfer forms requested by nic.es

If you need any Help in this, we can advise you.

We are also in the Domain brokerage business and accept your request, if you are looking for the right Domain at the right price.

Hi there. This is my first post in the forum. I have some .es domains. I hope they are going to be a good deal in the future.

There are few problems with .es domains such transfer, managing and wipo disputes.

If you own a generic .es domain you are not safe enough. It is very possible to lost that domain in a wipo dispute if a mark registered in spain have the rigths to use it. There is not juridical security. There are a lot of examples out there.

That is sad and doesn't encourage me to invest in premium .es generics.. is there anything you can do about it? Maybe some kind of domain association in Spain could fight for domainers' rights?

How many domainers are there in Spain?

Well. There have been few examples too in the other side. That is not a point for spanish domainers in order to stop investing in domains. We did and still doing. Domainers fight against the dispute and some of them have won. It depends. But we had 2 big disputes for generic .es domains wich were very controversial. Take a look at lupa.es dispute.

About the domain association there have been a lot of talk. But nothing yet. To many interests. To many opinions.

I can't tell you a numer about domainers. I think many. Just one data:

Demene.com is most popular domain forum in spain and latinamerican countrys and have more than 2.400 users registered. Make your numbers.

Investing in .es and .com.es is still been a big deal. Even If someone try to dispute you a domain.

All the best,

Default Re: About .es ....

A few things changed with the Spanish Registry since March 2010.

- about transfer / trade, most of the procedure remains; the domain admin contact of the
domain receives an e-mail from the registry with links to approve or reject the transfer
or trade. The response period has changed, if no action is taken by the admin contact within
10 days, the transfer or trade will fail.

- about domain deletion, most of the procedure remains; the domain admin contact of the
domain receives an e-mail from the registry with links to approve or reject the deletion.
The response period has changed, if no action is taken by the admin contact within 10 days,
the deletion of the domain name will not be carried out.

- expired .ES domains are now deactivated on expiry date.

- if the .ES domain is not renewed before the expiration the domain will enter a 10 day
redemption period. The domain can be restored by the Registrar or the admin during this period.
If the domain is not restored, it will be deleted by the registry and will be available
for registration.

- two types of registrants are now distinguished, natural persons and juridical persons.
The .ES registry no longer accepts companies for admin billing and tech contacts. These
contact will have to be natural persons. This will be checked by the ESNIC upon a domain
update.

Hope this helps !

Thanks Pichichi

Since we needed to inform our Spanish resellers about these changes we made a little FAQ.
