Hi there!
This issue was already mencioned in the .es general forum but I would like to know your opinion about that. There are diferent opinions between spanish domainers regarding that. I used to register a lot of .es and .com.es with english 1 and 2 words combination . Some of them get some visits in parking and clicks. Focusing in .com.es, do you thing they can be the rigth extension for US market and spanish speakers ? Thanks all,

Unless you have Software.es or something similar, I can't see the point.
But of course, international keywords as Software, Hardware, Internet, Wifi, etc... will work well. Also brandable english keywords such as: "cool", "rock", "fun", etc... Loans is a premium english keyword, but have nothing to do with .es extension. I don't know it depends :P |

Yah like you said if chase the vanity words in the domainsphere like Hotels, attorneys, poker, money, blog or high calibur on worders that have high previously values such as business.com business.es would get you a pretty penny

So in Spain is pretty similar like in other European countries, like in Poland, where people type in domains in their native language.
BTW In Poland we also have .com.pl but they are less and less popular every month. We have now 900k .pl and 250k .com.pl registered - market share for .com.pl is declining. How does it look like in Spain? Does the market share of .com.es going up or down? What are the statistics? DD

.com.es is less used in type-in, however every time .com.es is used by companys to make their web sites and for developers trying to position their sites in gugle. And they did !! There are few examples like; msi.com.es montblanc.com.es ( multinacional company ) guardian.com.es ( big one yeah ? ) VideoClub.com.es ( first and second position in google.es by searching "video club" ) documentales.com.es ( first position in gugle for "documentales" ) Last week one geo-domain ( lanzarote.com.es )was sold in on of the most popular forums in spain ( demene ) for 720 € . This is maybe a low price, but the sale was made between domainers and the auction was with no-reserve. I wonder wich price would get it if that domain would have found an end user. Just make some search in guugle.es for .com.es domains and you ll see how popular is the extension. I am not really agree with you. The situation in spain is not like Poland . Every time there is more people Knowing about .com.es domains. They are following the popularity of .es . Will see in a couple of years. Many spanish domainers have invest their money in .com.es because there was no way to get nice keys in .es anymore. I encourage you to visit Demene.com all interested domainers in .es and .com.es . They are starting to have regular NO RESERVE auctions each month with domains been sold a very interesting prices.

The only good thing about .com.es is that they are as good for SEO as .ES, that's all. Last edited by DotEs; 03-13-2009 at 10:52 AM. |

Try to find nice Keywords in .com.es and you will see how many of them are registered. You ll find nothing. Everything is taken. There are websites developed. I was talking about companys with the .com.es extension developed. Not normal people. I already said they have no type-in but you find them in google. They are there and that is a fact! As you say they are good for SEO so they are good to invest and be registered. We can move this conversation to general .es discussion forum because it is going out of the focus of the original thread. It was about english keywords in .es and .com.es

Domains .es and com.es will be rising in values.no doubt.
The com.es market has exploded 6 months ago and all good com.es (spanish , english ) are gone. And com.es perform even better then a com in seo terms. es and com.es , definitly a market that is rising steady , and as the infraestructure in spain is expanding ,and is still premature we are definitly going to see something here.

correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there only .com.es at the beginning and when they opened up .es for the masses, .com.es went under ?

Dot com.es domains were born in late 2.003 (I think). Dot es domains are older.
English keys are fine, as far as they are simple-spelled and brandable. It will also depend on the subject, but those gaming-related, sports, or betting related could be a good choice. Some others (maybe real estate, or banking) in a minor way. |
