To the native English speakers: is the keyword so crappy or is it just for the .eu extension, that noone seems to be interested?

Most of the .eu domains that Eurid claims are registered by UK and Irish registrants are actually owned by non-European (US and Canadian) cyberwarehousing and cybersquatting operations using UK and Irish front companies despite cyberwarehousing being against .eu regulations.

The .eu ccTLD is of absolutely minimal interest in these areas due to the incompetence of Eurid and PwC in bungling the Sunrise and allowing cybersquatters and cyberwarehousers to destroy the landrush. Consequently the reaction to .eu ccTLD has been one of sheer disdain. It is regarded by many as a junk extension. Where there are genuine Irish or British .eu registrations, these registrations are often purely for brand protection purposes. The dominant ccTLDs in Ireland and the UK are .ie and .uk ccTLDs respectively. There is also an element of overlap and the most popular ccTLD apart from .ie in Ireland is actually .uk as the UK is seen as a natural market.

The timing is also a bit off. The .eu landrush anniversary just occurred on 01/May/2009 and approximately 120K .eu domains were dropped. More will drop over the next few months tailing off to September. The keyword combination is not that bad it is just that it is a hard sell.

Incorrect. The anti-warehousing regulations are for registrars, not for registrants. The construction where different business entities are created to act as registrants is perfectly legal.

No, the rules where created by the European Commission. PwC and Eurid can not be held responsible for loopholes in the rules, they did not create them.

Read more about this discussion in this topic: About .eu ...

Then about the domain: the problem is that you are trying to sell to resellers but they are only interested in short powerful top-notch domains as far as .eu goes. If you want to sell now you should try to find an enduser or hold on for a few years. The .eu market is relatively young, and still needs time to mature.

There is, as I recall, a provision in those rules to take action against cyberwarehousing and more importantly, serial cybersquatting. Eurid just wasn't capable of using this legislation properly and had no expertise in dealing with what was effectively a gTLD. Eurid was just a cheap clone of the Belgian DNS.be ccTLD registry. The prevalance of cyberwarehousing and cybersquatting has effectively killed the extension as a trustworthy extension and has contributed to a surge in genuine ccTLD registrations throughout the EU.

This has made it more difficult to sell .eu domains. The best way would probably be to find an end-user. However the problem for .eu is that it really has no public recognition in Ireland or the UK - in terms of visibility it is down with .info and .biz gTLDs. Beyond the ccTLD/com/net/org, there is very little recognition of .eu ccTLD in Ireland and the UK.

Agreed. It will take at least five to ten years for the damage to filter out of the extension.

No doubt, the .eu extension suffers from mass-registrations...

But as there has not been a single bid I'd really like to hear a comment on the keyword...
Because if it translated into what I thought it meant, in German it would have sold at least for one EUR.
