Who can register a .fi domain name?
- A private person can apply for a domain name but they must be at least 15 years of age with a Finnish Personal Identity Number and is domiciled in Finland. Those between the ages of 15 and 17 must have a guardian apply for the name of their behalf.
What is required for registering a .fi domain name?
- You need the Business ID code of your company/organization or the registration number of your association.
- If you are a private person, you need your Personal Identity Number.
What are the .fi syntax rules?
- A fi domain name must consist of between 2-63 characters.
- The allowed characters are letters from a to z, numbers from 0 to 9 and the dash (-).
Does .fi allow IDNs?
- As of September 1, 2005, it became possible to apply for .fi domain names represented by the native characters
- Internet name server systems can only process the traditional letters of the Latin alphabet. Therefore, native language characters should be converted into a form which can be processed by name server systems.
