Hi dtommy,
I am not after seeing the appraisal certificate as they mean absolutely nothing, instead can you just post who the appraisal was by and then we can all see if the 'appraisal certificate' is different to all the rest of these worthless appraisals. I would question the worth of any 'appraisal certificate' by some unknown third party - unfortunately this is one of the biggest scams in the domaining industry and I fear you may have been duped by one such 'appraiser'. . |

Hi Billbo,
I've updated the first post with the links. I agree with you regarding these appraisals. I don't trust them any more than you do, but I sold a domain and the buyer requested one, and I had these 3 appraised as well. I think a domain name is only worth what it's worth for the buyer. No-one can really valuate them.

dtommy, it took me just a couple of minutes looking in at other forums to see that this 'appraisal' by Daniel Baten is regarded as the typical scam - known as an 'appraisal scam'.
I am glad you got a sale but I can tell you those domains listed above are not going to get the kind of money that is indicated. I am sorry if you paid out for these appraisals, they really are worthless. Here is a tip for everybody, do not pay for appraisals, not from Daniel Baten, not from the bloke who knows everything about domains, not from a big parking company, not even from me. If you really want to waste money just PM me and I will explain many other more beneficial ways of wasting it. dtommy please realise this is not against you but against those who run these scams, and even if it is done 'manually' it is still worthless appraisals. If you really want to know the 'possible' value of a domain many domaining forums offer an 'appraisal section' where other members will give you their opinions for free (and if it is a good name may even offer to buy the domain name from you). |

While I already stated that I agree with you on the appraising crap, how can you say for sure that my domains listed won't sell???
1. If someone wants, say mongit.com, badly he/she will be willing to pay for it. 2. The prices indicated next to the appraised domain are NOT asking prices. How do you know that I'm not willing to sell them much cheaper?

dtommy, firstly I did not say that your 'domains won't sell', please re-read my post. I have been in domaining for too many years to know that an investor or end-user often sees value in domains that I and perhaps the majority of other domainers see no value in. Therefore I NEVER say a domain wil not sell. What I did say was they will not sell for the prices listed.
I do not wish to make this a personal thread, but I am sure that the 'domainers' I know would not pay the 'appraised' value. I wish you all the best with your domain sales, I really do. |
