For most people, it's only referred to in an administrative sense (e.g. by the government) rather than as a destination, because as a region it's demographically and geographically disparate. Few would say, "I'm thinking of going to the New Territories this weekend "
New Territories includes very popular tourist and pleasure destinations such as Sai Kung and the Outlying Islands, but also poor towns such as Tin Shui Wai. The more monetisable destinations such as Lamma Island and Sai Kung already have well-established geo sites. Development of the domain would probably have to focus on hiking the extensive country parks and travelling to the smaller islands off the southern coast of Guangdong, China. Difficult to monetise that. Last edited by esatyrical; 05-27-2009 at 03:39 AM. |
