I think there is, but haven't read the entire regualtions, but if you look all the adult & escorts website in HK use .com, I guess for a certain reason. I know that there were laws in HK against hardcore porn and/or explicit images...

I haven't seen restrictions at all in the link from Alfredo - but i do know that some domainers had problems with porn names, based on Chinese restrictions....

On the other side, porn in China (or the world) is huge, they just maybe let u slip because they can gain something?

I would agree with Plattman - either call the registrar of the .hk domains, or contact ICANN. That's your best bet. It's not good to take a chance.

Sometimes adult names, while technically allowed at the registrar level, could cause problems at the government level.

Take .ph for example. Porn is definitely illegal in the Philippines but it's legal to operate a site there as long as you don't sell to Filipinos. The .ph would imply that you are selling to Filipinos and therefore open you up to risk. The same would be true with China and India. I would think the same is true with .tk.

there are several adult .cn domains which are active, but chinese traffic is blocked and the websites are hosted outside China. If you would host this inside China, you would risk jail time.

I wouldn't take that risk. It is too easy for the Chinese government to seize the domain, even if you aren't in China and aren't risking jail time. I guess for hand regs the risk is negligible but the aftermarket won't reward you.

if you want to play in the chinese aftermarket, number domains is always a good bet.
