I'm not a big fan of .me and don't think it makes much sense outside of people's names and a few strong keywords.

The advantage that .tv has is that it represents tv or video content which is wildly popular online now.

If you own domains like steve.me or john.me there is definitely a market there. Once you start looking at domains like RealEstate.me or RaceCars.me then you lose me - just doesn't make sense. Not that these aren't valuable - they just aren't relevant to the TLD.

If you have some good name.me domains then I would hold-onto those and wait for a rich Steve or John who wants their name .me. Otherwise I'd look at other ccTLD's.

I agree with DomainInvesting. I don't see much value in .me. I think there was a hype when they launched and some domainer made a decent profit from reselling their generic .me domains. As with many of this smaller ccTLDs, the domains will only get traffic once developed, or if you have generic terms in the local language (some adult english generics also might get some type in traffic).

I think It become a tld, is short, easy to remember, brandable, I think after. Com,. Net,. Org, and like .Biz or. Tv.

This demonstrates that it has been launched with the highest number of ccTLD registries, as well as some registrars GoDaddy bet for him, proves it.
We must see his evolution over the next two years and pass the crisis, but immersed in it is one of the largest movements in ccTLDs to purchase not only in English but in Spanish.

I don't really see any great future for .me. In my eyes it's just a ccTLD from a very small country. The Marketing strategy usind the word "Me" was a good strategy for the registries to make money.

Talking Re: .me expectations

Action oriented words( that are super strong) work with me to like
sex.me
fix.me
sale.me
and geo me like Newyork.me which is brandable for a guy who wants to own his city name or make it specifically for those people in that city

It could be that .me will not gain broad traction, however, it must be admitted that it is off to a strong start due to savvy marketing and the obvious branding potential in this extension for certain names. I am actually very impressed with the whole operation surrounding .me. They have executing a marketing plan that puts MANY other ccTLDs to shame, including many much larger countries.

I own names in a lot of ccTLDs and I can only hope for the amount of interest and buzz generated by the small country of Montenegro for its extension.

On a personal note, I have received more unsolicited offers for .me domains than any other extension over the past few months, so in my minute corner of domaining, I am quite happy with its performance to date. And, I have higher quality names in other ccTLDs that never get a sniff (like "slots", "loans", etc.).

wow, what a coincidence, I think DomainForum.me was one of the ones I registered on the first or second day of .me and then dropped within the 2 day grace period.

I do think that just buying up keyword domains with .ME is a bad way to go, i see alot of crap names being bought just because they are one word nouns or verbs. Not a good idea.

I am a big believer in GEO .me names, the brandability of it gives its real market potential. From some recent dealings working to get funding on a project from people outside the domaining industry .ME was immediately grabbed on and the possibilities grasped. I received a pretty significant investment in a development project based on a marketing pitch using .ME.

I also agree with the first name value, i own several actually due to that.

I think taht .me has great potential since there are over 220.000 registered .me domain names for less than 9 months since the domain name has been launched

there are almost 5.000.000 indexed .ME pages on google, and if you compare it to .asia 2.000.000 who started before them its more then double

on Alexa top 1 million websites
.me has 433
.asia has 110
.mobi has 250
.name has 428 even if .name exists since november 2000

Therefore .me is not only popular and brandable, but also one of the most sought after domain names.

Arrow Re: .me expectations

If .me will maintain the current pace, it will catch up with .tv by the end of 2010. We have to see then how the new gTLDs will impact the market, but for the next year, .me will be rising and you will hear more about it.

Marketeers love it for its jingliness. Read tonnes of examples from day.ly life on:

.ME of course
