The trend is beginning to show and little by little and second level .Mx domains are gaining ground. Most of the big motor power houses are now advertising their .mx web pages instead of the old .com.mx. Although when typing them some still redirected to the older com.mx extension, non of them are any longer using the old extension for advertising in print, street or television advertisements, which are now dominated by the .mx
buick.mx honda.mx chevrolet.mx ford.mx gti.mx camaro.mx Interesting enough is the case of Nissan, which has always been slow for the game of domaining, they have neither nissan.com nor nissan.mx And well Nic.mx will likely be celebrating on Wednesday which might be the date when they reach 100,000 registered .mx domains. Take into account that this is not Colombia where the ccTLD is bought mostly speculating that it may have other meaning. .MX domains are primarily registered for the local market, with an economy ranking number 12 worldwide ahead of Spain, Australia and Canada, just to name a few. |

I am beginning to find more and more local companies either switching or using the .mx extension for their companies. Still needs more time to gain overall acceptance, but it's definitely growing.

i dont necessarily like that line of thought because it means you wait till after the auction to see how the market is 'gauged' meanwhile the more forward thinkers are able to scoop up the best buys. there is definitely a market developing, many sales are happening under the radar, and as previous poster pointed out there are end-users that are 'getting it' already. since typically, imo, there are not many end-users drawn to these online auctions as we'd all hope, it can be a good chance for the investor like us to pick up names at decent prices. quite a few of these domains are at no reserve. just my opinion

I scooped up all the mx domains I can handle during the initial landrush and am just waiting for the market to grow.
There are some very appealing domains, at no reserve prices in the auction. I am tempted to bid on some myself. |

not sure where you guys are from.
from living in australia i noticed many years ago when you went to google.com you automatically got redirected to the .com.au and had to proxy out for a more pure search. this is also the same in france If in mexico? im sure that a redirect for the average joe to anything '.mx' will only make mx domains increase in value. also with nice advertising to target audiences (like youve seen) will generate traffic and therefore increase the extensions value. |

Anyone seeing more companies switch over to .mx from com.mx lately.
From what I am seeing there are still tons of companies using the old .com.mx still. |

I thought this might be a useful read to .com.mx/.mx domainers:
(Source : NIC México - Noticias ) Percentage distribution of all types of .mx domains as of July 2011: Domain Type - Percentage . Com.mx - 68.32% . Gob.mx - 1.22% . Net.mx - 0.08% . Edu.mx - 1.53% . Org.mx - 3.28% . Mx - 25.56% TOTAL - 100.00% So at the moment there are 3 times more .com.mx domains than .mx. It will be interesting to see how these percentages will vary in a year or so.
