Personally I don't believe in this extension at all.. but who knows.. I tried to find stats regarding domains registered in sunrise (grandfather) period but couldn't.

I would bet a beer that this extension will be a disaster..

co.nl is not a real extension it is only selling of subdomains.

I don't know anyone who is optimistic about this extension except for EuroDNS themselves.

The premium domains will registrer and maybe some domains will sale.

But if the people in Netherlands don't know .co.nl, it's a bad investiment.

The co.ee have the same problem. Subdomain and unknown in Estonia.

@DD

Ok with pierogi.

I think it's not the worst problem of this "TLD". The whole idea of this .co.nl is just very, very, very hard to understand - WHAT FOR??

It's to get around the hassle of local presence + contracts that you need for a .nl at the moment

We'll be offering them once we've finished the integration with our backend

Spamming people about it is a really terrible way to market it

It looks like they want to sell .co.tv but now probably measuring the interest in such extension. That's why they implemented this tool:

"Please send us your email so we can inform you when www.your-domain.co.tv is available."

I don't know who's behind it but I think they were inspired by EuroDNS

Hi there,

just to inform you; in the near future we're not going to ask for local presence anymore; if you are a foreign registrant the local presence address will be default SIDN's office address, so no hassle anymore.

And by the end of this year we're going to launch an EPP interface.

cheers,

Paul Jansen

Gee, like we haven't heard that one before... 2006, 2007, 2008 ring a bell?

Hi Paul!

Good to hear about no need for local presence anymore and EPP implementation.

BTW Can you post currant pricing (or give a link) for .nl registrars? Maintain fee, domain reg and renewal fee? It will be much appreciated.

It's a good news.

.co.nl has influenced the change of rules?

I do believe that is exaggerated; Of course it***8217;s new and of course it will have to proof itself in the coming years, but we DO have 2 quite successful registration periods behind us (2 months grandfather and 1 month trademark sunrise) and we DO have pretty well known registrars that joined and support us: Melbourne IT< MarkMonitor, Ascio, Key-Systems, Name.com etc: http://domain.co.nl/nl/aangesloten-registrars.html

We will see how it takes off this afternoon with the Landrush and the period after, but we have all confidence that it will continue to grow and add some international value.

Concerning the premium names: these are mainly reserved to make sure they will be developed in the coming years. -> and add value to CO.NL

Sander

All public facts&figures are published at www.domain.co.nl. Whenever we decide to publish any other data in the future, like the nr of sunrise applications, it will be on that website.
