Default High .ph domain name costs

A .ph domain costs around $39.99 / year, which seems really high. For domain name investors is it attractive to invest in this? could you profit from these domains? What sort of websites do you think could get the $39.99 back?

The .com start at $35 a pop years ago, the .ph still got some unregister generic domains. Plenty for investment.

When I go back to Manila, I will definitely use .PH not .com

@King: That's true, but when do we expect ccTLD's to drop as low as the .com prices?

domains.ph offers price breaks with volume. Their lowest break is $15 each at 1200 names.

@Rick and King: Thanks for the reply, $15 seems to be more reasonable.

if you plan to spend $18000 anyway the volume is price is reasonable. its just not accessible. The advantage though of it being a high priced is that those who can, can take up the good names, downside is it doesnt help the growth of the market much for the small players or individuals. I hope dotPH or someone does something

Buying in bulk to get the discount is a good idea. However, do the renewal fees shoot back up to $35 or remain at discounted price depending on volume of domains held?

There are gold, silver, diamond level (I think). Depending on your level, the cost will be the same for renewal.

how about if we pool resources so that small time players (like me) can also acquire premium domains? do you think it's possible?

just a thought...

It's been done in the past but not to Filipino community. Yes, maybe we can build our own Filipino Venture a corporation. Who's interested? Send email if anyone is interested.

i'm in! i've been looking for partners for this one. i hope other Filipino domainers could also join.

question: how's the setup if ever? do we need to conduct regular meetings? if that's the case, then i don't think it's for me, because i only go to manila once a year

its an interesting idea,
renewals fees cost 1 credit, so it all depends on what price you purchased you prepaid credits at, i wish they had bulk domain prices but its all on how much you give them at once.
