What language do people from phils prefer to use online - english, filipino, or own first lanauge?
I read on one of the other philippine cctld threads that the .com.ph extension has been around since '96 and .ph since 2000. Have the single word generics and premium LLL all been registered? I'm just wondering whether to focus on the aftermarket or search for unregged gems. Cheers. |

All of my .ph names are in English. My experience with Filipinos is that they'll instant message and talk on message boards with each other in Tagalog but search the net for information in English.

it really depends,
english a lot works, and yes the generics have been registered. filipino words work well also but they are more targetted to local oriented sites usually if filipinos search they would use english words, though filipino words are also used. 50/50 i would say. generics like cars, realestate etc are all used in the english words, filipino words would be better for brand sites. |

In business, no questions about it .. should be English.
For gimik stuff and fun website, they prefer tagalog. I've seen many .ph in english, not much of tagalog. |

I have tagalog and english domains, both using english contents but you will see some members posting tagalog and that's ok. If someone post in tagalog, we intend to reply in tagalog.

I've spent a lot of time in the Philippines and I agree that much of Tagalog comes from Spanish. It is actually a butchering of Spanish in my opinion. That said, I never, ever, ever met anyone in the Philippines that actually spoke Spanish except for a few people that were really from the Americas.

I have to agree with all of you and say that filipinos prefer english.
I'm not really sure why filipinos prefer using english rather than using their own language . Can someone explain me ? |
