Default The liberalisation of ".pt” domain names...

.PT domains still not liberized!

Quote:
Liberalization of .PT Domain Registration

The new Rules of .PT Domain Registration will take effect soon allowing any person or entity to register a domain under the .PT registry.

The current rules restrict registration of .pt domains to Collective Entities, singular entrepreneurs, liberal professionals, public entities with administrative autonomy and any person/entity, if they are the owner of a Trademark.

Initially the date defined for total liberalization of .PT domain registration was the 1st of May 2008 but the entity responsible for .pt registrations had postponed the liberalization date.
Anyone have any more info on this? I tried contacting dns.pt and just get a standard 'we have no more information..' type reply.

Cheers,
v5x

You can ask me. I have been one of the main campaigners on the liberalization.

I know the CEO of FCCN (the entity who manages the .pt ccTLD) and I can tell you it***8217;s not their fault. They have been waiting for a decision from the Government for ages!

I have created a blog on this and you can read my position here:

A two year old post...

While, If you want a .pt, you need a trademark. The prize of a trademark in Portugal is 90 Euros.

Many people from Portugal use the .com.br

I own Raparigas.com.br (Girls in portuguese from portugal not in Brazil) and domain receives good traffic from Portugal.
