An American term not used in the UK, referred to as undertakers.

I would disagree - Im from the UK and it is used not as often as Undertakers but still used.
Thank you for your thoughts.

Where do undertakers work? Funeral Parlors are places not people. In the States, we call undertakers funeral directors.

No. Especially not after Scott's pointing out of the way Brits spell parlor. I'd still like to know where undertakers work though.

Well if the spelling of Parlors was right, which it seems there is some disagreement about, I think it would make a great name for a directory, but not much more then that. It's too descriptive to be a general business name...But it's a decent name overall I'd say.

There's no disagreement. It's spelled "parlours" in the UK.

When someone dies funeral directors or undertakers are employed to conduct the funeral etc. (These are businesses, with staff, offices, cars, some have areas to hold ceremonies, and so on) The term 'funeral directors' and 'undertakers' are used more or less interchangeably in the UK, although 'funeral directors' is a slightly more modern term.
I have never heard of the term 'funeral parlor' used in the UK and we spell parlor, as PARLOUR, in the UK. Hope this is helpful......... (Rick - Undertakers work in a 'Undertakers firm', of course! )(British English is different in Many way from US English!)
