Default 2.99 per year for us domains - that's cool

GoDaddy is having a cool promotion for us domains - 2.99 per year, if you buy six or more. That's pretty cool, imho. Thirty bucks for 10 years. It's like - wow.
I picked up really unbelievable domains for an incredible price. I know - they don't have much resale value - I don't care, I am going to develop them. Yahoo always loved any cctlds and google seems to treat .us domain fairly. It's just quite bloody (I don't know why, but I really love this British euphemism) unbelievable, what you can still hand reg for us domains. If you are hoping for a quick flip - forget it, I don't think the local market is quite ready for this extensions, but if you're like me - want to develop sites, go for it, it's a golden opportunity. It's really a developer's dream - an extension that ranks very very well by search engines (at least if your site is here in the US - but hey, it's 300 mil people we are talking about), and that you can still pick up - well, almost for nothing. I think it runs through July, don't miss it.

Don't forget Godaddy's small print. You get charged full rate for second year ($12 or so) if you transfer in first year. And I don't think you can lock in future years at the discount like you can with their .com registrations.

No, you can lock in future years - I just registered several us domains for 10 years, 30 bucks for 10 years per domain. (excellent names btw - registered two days ago, and am already getting hits, interestingly enough from Canada and UK. Not that I care about hits, I see this is as a perfect development opportunity, nonetheless, it's always heatwarming to get hits. Will let you in on a secret - they are all US geodomains, with hotels attached).
But I don't know about transfers, you could be right there.

Thanks for that, DMI. Good news.
Now I am not a US citizen or resident, which could be a problem with Godaddy since they require you to declare one of these options.
I bought some .US from Dynadot a while ago, and they had a declaration option 'planning to do business in the US' which was fine.
Before I go with Daddy, it would be useful to know if anyone had any problems with non-US address registrations.
Thanks in advance

Pendle - sorry but can't help you there, no idea what you need to do to register a US domain with GoDaddy. But be careful no matter what registar - unless you know exactly what you're doing, they can your domains away from you. Case in point - video.us. It was bought by some European (Dutch, German?) guy and then somebody complained that he had no US address, guess what - they deleted the domain. More here -
DomainWeek.com Blog Archive Video.us auction ends at $12,000

But I think it's an interesting topic - anybody has more info?
