Domains which contain the "7 bad words" may be deleted by the registry.

where did you find that passage ?
had a look on nic.us but could not find anything for you, the way the passage is it seems that you have to have written permisiion to sell/buy a dot us from the original owner. this is not the case, you can buy and sell .us freely, no paperwork involved, your name your choice. let me know if it's something else i'm missing.

As somebody based outside the United States, I have the following question:
How secure is it to invest in .US domains? Apart from the strange paragraph already posted above, which may or may not forbid the buying and reselling of .US domains, I'd also like to know whether Neustar can take .US domains away from non-US investors if it wishes to do so? Ownership is an important issue to think about before investing in any ccTLD, because the rules vary from country to country. For example, .DE may officially only be owned by Germans, but so far it is allowed for foreign investors to hold .US domains. Is it likely that these rules will change in the future, hence forbidding the registration of .US domains by entities without offices in the United States? I'm considering to buy a few .US domains now that prices are low, but investing $x,xxx+ in domains only to lose them at some point in the future would just be too risky. Thanks in advance for any replies! |
