In March 2009, NIC.VE presented an increase of 39.47% (10,182 domains), in April the increase was 44.89% (5158 domains) and in the month of May 2009 the increase was 52.16% (8098 domains).

May 31, the number of domain name extensions are:
com.ve = 109.930
net.ve = 10.660
co.ve = 8.650
org.ve = 8.795
info.ve = 3.804
web.ve = 3.427
gob.ve = 1.228
edu.ve = 322
e12.ve = 91
gov.ve = 742
mil.ve = 112

That seems like a lot of names for .ve. What am I missing?

In April, March and May dropped thousands of domains. Nic.ve release some domains at random. They don't have rules about it and we don't have drop list.

It's very popular in Venezuela.
