Default Just created: small website for promoting WS domain names - and selling some

FYI, Name Tactic (i.e. the undersigned) has just launched a new, small website specifically for the purpose of promoting the WS extension and advertising some WS domain names in our portfolio.

The website is primarily in French, as its names makes clear: Domaines.ws ("Domaines" with "e"). The FAQs explaining in a quite detailed way why it might be a good idea to buy a WS name are in French.

But other essential information is available in English (see right colum on front page) - and obviously, there are a number of English domain names in our list of domain names for sale:
Noms en vente / For sale.

I feel indeed that there is a need not only to make WS domain names available for sale, but to promote them properly as well: any search on WS domain names tends to produce too many results mixing the WS extension with schemes for "becoming rich easily" and so on. My feeling is that the registry did not choose the best long-term strategy for promoting the WS extension.

Only a small percentage of Name Tactic's portfolio is made of WS domain names. I hope that some English-speaking owners of WS names will also start to create small websites for advertising the TLD and selling their names. Once such specific, serious WS websites exist, we could create links across them.

Hi Viator! Do you really think anything can help .ws extension to get popular? I think it's already lost ccTLD - at least for global investors.

Thank you for your remark. I have also my reservations and question marks - otherwise, I would invest much more in WS names. But I am not thinking primarily from the viewpoint of global investors: I am thinking more about endusers who are not large firms (e.g. small businesses), who are willing to invest something in a domain name, but cannot afford a generic in COM or another major extension, due to the very high costs of those. I feel that for people in that sector, WS can be a welcome alternative. Not for any type of name, but mostly for generic names.

Time will tell if I am right, and this is an attempt to assess if it can work. It is a long-term experiment.

Some WS portfolio owners I have been in touch with (not the "become rich overnight" type!) share similar views.

I think the registry could help greatly in taking other marketing approaches, but I do not know if they will do it.

I see your point of view. So in some cases - maybe .ws can be a good solution for cheap generic domain name. But I do still think that it is a little bit waste of time and money to focus on .ws rather that some other ccTLDs. But I can be wrong.

Thx and good luck with .ws domain names

Thank you for your kind wishes!

I definitely would not focus on WS names only - Name Tactic is right now in the process of preparing two other, small websites for advertising names related to specific sectors in the top TLDs.

But I feel that, if some WS names are to do well (or better than they do at this point), they need to be promoted better and adequately explained to endusers - this is the meaning of the website I have just created for that purpose.

But I can be wrong too, obviously. Anyway, I will try, with no haste.

Unless you try, you won't get reward!

And diversification is the key to succeed in domain business. So as you told - you should not focus only on one TLD, because it's to risky.
